a bloody dilemma

It is already happening around the world: vaccination passes.
Proof of vaccination against the flu isn’t only for crossing borders [see Greece, Cyprus, Israel, Denmark, and Sweden], but a vaccination pass will be mandatory for taking a sea cruise [see Saga].
It is likely that entry to sports stadia and concerts will soon be restricted to vaccination pass-holders.
Boarding aircraft will be restricted to vaccination pass-holders [see Qantas].
And your job may also depend on whether you can produce a vaccination pass, especially in the healthcare sector, but this policy is already being discussed in the building trade and other sectors.

I popped into a small supermarket last night, and by the time I walked in my teenage son had already been stopped by the owner who was notifying him that he had to wear a mask or wear an exemption card around his neck (it’s only a matter of time before a vaccination pass is mandatory too)!
I greeted the owner, explained that we were exempt, and in an effort to break the tension I boldly announced to the rest of the shop, “I AM EXEMPT.”  I suggested that perhaps it would be simpler if we wore a big yellow star on our arm to identify us as exempt, and maybe some time soon we could all live safely in a nice concentration camp for the exempted.  The owner smiled and shook his head.  (It’s his shop – but we still enjoy some human rights.)

According to the 1997 Human Rights Act, I have the right to manifest my religious beliefs in practice and observance, so long as I do not put others at risk.
I do not have the flu; I am not presenting any symptoms of the flu; in fact my belief in God’s word actively protects me from disease, pestilence, and plague [example: Psalm 91]: therefore I can reason that I am not a risk to the public, therefore I do not wear a mask, (neither do I intend queuing up for a vaccination).

should I get a vaccination?

It seems that if I refuse to get the COVID-19 vaccination:
I will be prohibited from travel,
I will banned from public events,
I will be barred from shops,
And I may be unemployable.

What’s so special about blood?
They didn’t have vaccinations back when the Bible was written, so there is not a text that I can turn to for a direct answer.
However, there is definitely something very, very special about blood – even modern medicine agrees with this: blood is a very complex and very special and very important substance that the body cannot live without.

For the life of the flesh is in the blood [Leviticus 17:14]

Your life is not in your heart: your heart is just an amazing pump that circulates your blood and allows your blood to perform it’s essential functions of keeping your body and organs alive and healthy.

It was blood that God required as an offering
Cain and Abel made an offering to God from the fruit of their labours: Cain grew crops; Abel kept sheep: Cain offered the best of his crops; Abel offered his best of his first-born lambs: God rejected Cain’s crops, but accepted Abel’s lambs.
There is a big difference between a sacrifice with blood, and a sacrifice without blood.

Throughout the Old Testament, God’s people were required to continually offer blood sacrifices to atone for their continual sins.
In the New Testament, all sins can be forgiven because of the perfect blood sacrifice of God’s only begotten son, Jesus Christ.

Blood was never to be eaten; instead, the animal had to be drained of blood, and its blood poured onto the earth.
For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off. [Leviticus 17:14]
I think that’s clear enough: God considers blood to be very special.

is your blood special?

Your blood is unique to you in a multitude of ways.
Think about it: there are no two people who are indistinguishably identical in outward appearance (although some twins are tricky, I admit); so by what logic do you suppose that you and I could be identical on the inside?
Each one of us is unique.
You are fearfully and wonderfully made, and God knows everything about you: Psalm 139.
Is your blood special and unique to you?
Of course it is!

what will a vaccination do to my blood?

Honestly: I don’t know!
In fact, even the scientists who created these vaccines don’t know, because in truth this flu vaccination is technically a vaccination trial!

God told Malachi: … in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.  But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD is polluted; and the fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible.” [Malachi 1:11,12]
I know, this quotation may be out of context with vaccinations, but for some reason my heart keeps bringing me back to it,…
Because of this:
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye were bought at a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.  [1 Corinthians 6:19,20]

My body and my soul and my spirit are not mine.
God purchased the whole of me.
I am so precious that God purchased me at the highest possible price: with the sacrifice of his only son, Jesus Christ.
I belong to God.
I do not belong to me!

what harm can a vaccination do to my body?

Again, I don’t know!
But the whole point of a vaccination is that it alters the composition of your blood.

I do not pretend to understand what all this hi-sci geek-speak means, but I recognise that a vaccine contains cells from a chimpanzee, and cells from an aborted human baby; and other vaccines are using genetically modified DNA.
The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, and the Moderna vaccine, and the AstraZeneca vaccine were all employed cells from an aborted baby in either the manufacture or the testing of their products.

(I do not want to bias myself by explaining how my eldest son almost died as a direct result of a vaccination when he was four-years old, nor do I want to sway the argument with how my granddaughter nearly died in my arms as a direct result of her routine Vitamin K.  These are arguments of the physical self: I am writing from a spiritual point of view.)
But, before you debate the physical benefits of accepting the flu vaccination: Be still before God; meditate upon it.
Then ask yourself: do I have peace about accepting the flu vaccine?
Or, do you have peace about rejecting the flu vaccine?

The thought of accepting the flu vaccination does not bring me any peace.
If accepting the vaccine is some sort of sin that I do not understand, I know that I am forgiven through the atoning sacrifice that Jesus made through his death, burial and resurrection.
However, if my spirit objects to the vaccine, and if I realise in my heart that the vaccine is wrong: if I accept the vaccine despite my spiritual objection to it, I feel that it would be like slapping Jesus across his beautiful face.

I either believe in God and trust in the word of God and the works of Jesus;
Or, I believe in man and trust in the word of man and the works of man!

Given the track record, it’s not a difficult decision

Don’t be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun.  Don’t believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us.  Don’t be fooled by what they say.  For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction.
He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.
Don’t you remember that I told you about all this when I was with you?  And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only when his time comes.
For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way.
Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendour of his coming.
This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles.
He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them.
So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies.
Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth.

[2 Thessalonians 2:2-12]
